Baseball
I started tee-ball at 4 years old because my dad wanted to coach me and was something fun to do on the weekends.
I continue to play my sport because my love and passion for baseball is so strong. Baseball always makes me happy no matter what happens during the game and gives me something to clear my mind from anything else going on.
I would want to achieve the honor of being drafted into the MLB, that’s the one thing I would wish for in my sport.
It’s very important to me to achieve my sporting goals because I don’t want to settle for less. If I get the opportunity to perform or take my game further, there won’t be anything that’ll hold me back.
My favorite sports quote has to be from Derek Jeter, he said: “There may be people who have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do”.
I feel a great sense of accomplishment and gratitude when I do well, and will always stay humble as well.
My favorite song to listen to before playing has to be Welcome to the Party by Diplo and Juicy J.
My favorite sports movie is Remember the Titans.
Being an athlete makes me a better person by allowing me to learn lessons that apply to life through the sports I’ve played. The main thing I learned when I was younger was to let bad calls go, focus on moving ahead, because in life you can’t focus on what you can’t control or you won’t go anywhere. Focusing on what you can do allows you to move forward as a person.
One thing I always do after a good performance is have a good meal made by my mom.
To calm myself before competition I try to think about relaxing things and just to trust my abilities and the time I put in to succeed.
If I could play another sport it would definitely be basketball.
I was 4 years old when I started tee-ball.
My favorite dish to eat before a big game has to be any pasta dish my mom makes.
As a young athlete, Kobe Bryant and Derek Jeter inspired me. Kobe’s dedication and Jeter’s humbleness were very inspiring to me as a young athlete. They both valued hard work over talent alone.
One word to describe myself would be determined.
My favorite coach I ever had was late Coach Tommy Rucker. He’s the reason I was able to take the next step into travel baseball after having played rec. He gave me the base of my skillset within the sport and will always be grateful for him.
I give up a lot of free time for my sport, I love it because it helps me with time management which would benefit me when I go to college and life in general.
Favorite place to compete would be any baseball field but specifically under the lights at nighttime. Best time to play any outdoor sport.
The mental tool I use under pressure would be having trust in myself. I know what I’m capable of so you just gotta treat the high-pressure situation like it’s a low-pressure situation. The main thing is trusting yourself.
My favorite mantra is “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it matters whether you get back up”.
I believe attitude is a huge factor in winning. Having a positive attitude rubs off on others to keep yourself and everyone else in the game when something negative happens.
A picture of me and my late grandfather always focuses me because I play baseball through his spirit.
Being an athlete inspires me to do good by giving back to the people that have helped me throughout my life be successful in my sport or my life in general.
Being an athlete makes me a better student/worker by allowing me to be prepared and disciplined out in the world.
